I can tell you I have alot of trouble since installing Windows 7 as well. mine is from page pool memory giving me a looping sound crash though. I have done everything it says in the steam troubleshooting guide and still have problems. It gets worse every patch too.
My expierence is that TF2 just doesnt really like something on windows 7. it pisses me off having to dial down my graphics when I have 2 GeForce 275 in SLI mode and 8 gigs of ram. Anyways Dont mean to hijack. Im glad its working for you. I think stabby covered this but make sure you have the multicore option turned off. That causes tons of problems for people.

Try the mem_max_heapsize cvar, Yeg. And remember, turning down your graphics settings will hurt more than help. Because the CPU is the bottleneck, those settings shift the load to the GPU or something, which is not maxed out.
I also recommend troubleshooting multicore rendering before disabling it; the FPS boost is pretty huge. The best first step in troubleshooting TF is to try windowed vs. fullscreen view. I myself can hardly run the game in fullscreen, but windowed is no problem. Last edited by stabby stabby; 02-08-2010 at 05:36 PM. |

Oh, in steam, try verifying and defragging your TF2 game files a couple times.
